Your new spot on the waterfront
A unique space on the water's edge
The name says it all: Silo Park, situated between Jellicoe and Beaumont Streets, has been established around the 35 metre-high Golden Bay cement silo and 'Silo 6' in recognition of the area’s industrial heritage. Silo Park offers striking marina views, or climb up the gantry for a 360-degree city panorama that showcases North Head, the Sky Tower and Auckland Harbour Bridge in the distance.
Throughout the summer, night markets and Silo Cinema take place every Friday evening in Silo Park. On Saturday afternoons, Silo sessions feature the latest in up-and-coming musical talent, and then come Sunday you can head on down to learn a new dance move or two.
More of Silo Park to love
Now there’s even more of Silo Park to love – 2,700sqm to be exact! And there’s something for everyone in the new space that connects Silo Park, North Wharf and Wynyard Wharf on the waterfront.
Amongst the proud additions are new, interactive play areas and equipment, a shade structure called Te Nukuao, more seating, bike racks, greenery and native plants, as well as nine stainless steel tanks that reflect the waterfront’s industrial heritage.
Kids and adults alike can experience the ‘Playline’: bespoke interactive play equipment created from old pipes and fittings salvaged from the Bulk Storage Terminal tanks of the old working Wynyard Wharf. From swings that light up to a misting controller for hot summer days, there’s no shortage of fun exploring the Playline’s creativity.
